Welcome to MVRI

Maharishi Vedic Research Institute (MVRI) is an Approved Research Institute (ARI) of the Australian Federal Government. MVRI acknowledges the traditional owners and custodians of country throughout Australia and recognises their continuing connection to land, waters and culture.

MVRI is engaged in research, exploration, investigation, preservation and documentation of Maharishi Vedic Science and its applications. Founded by Maharishi Mahesh Yogi in his revival of ancient Vedic knowledge, this science is the science of consciousness and its expressions. “Veda” means knowledge; Maharishi Vedic Science is the science of complete knowledge, a perfect science of life. Knowledge results from the coming together of the knower, the process of knowing and the known.

In Maharishi Vedic Science, knowledge is the togetherness (Saṁhitā) of knower (Ṛishi), process of knowing (Devatā), and known (Chhandas). This unified, self-referral field—the structure of pure knowledge within consciousness, the self-referral dynamic at the basis of creation and all streams of knowledge, forms and phenomena—is known as the Constitution of the Universe or Ṛik Veda.

We can experience self-referral consciousness within our own unbounded awareness through the practice of technologies of consciousness—including the Transcendental Meditation technique, the Transcendental Meditation-Sidhi Program and Yogic Flying. A holistic science, Maharishi Vedic Science includes these applied technologies and all the Vedic disciplines of the 40 aspects of Veda and the Vedic Literature and their relationship and correspondence to structures and functions within the human physiology, as revealed in Dr Tony Nader’s book—Human Physiology: Expression of Veda and the Vedic Literature.

Through its goal to bring fulfilment and peace in individual and collective life, Maharishi Vedic Science is highly relevant to modern living. Its unique, complete, consciousness-based approach addresses all aspects of human endeavour—individual happiness and development, education, health and well-being, government, law, justice and rehabilitation, business, visual and performing arts, architecture and planning, farming and agriculture, society, tradition and culture.
